Learn to Paint The Urban Landscape!

I will teach an Urban 2 Day Workshop in Los Angeles on November 20th & 21st, 2010. This is for intermediate to advanced painters, good drawing skills are a must. My focus will be showing the student how to create a good painting through proper design without become too tight, therefore allowing for fluid brush work and great overall mood. Cost per student $200. Max 10 students. Please contact me at the studio to reserve your spot, phone 310-869-3200.

Finally, I have had the chance to start going out and doing more urban paintings. The weather has cooled and it's nicer when you are standing on the concrete for 2 or 3 hours. This painting will be included in my "Painting a Week" on Ebay. Each miniature painting is listed as a 7 day auction. Click here. You can view my larger urban paintings on my website, anything from 8"x8" to 24"x30". Larger pieces are usually commissioned by collectors from the studies I have already completed. You can also email me to find out what is available if you don't see any on my site.

I have been to Canada and the Canadian Rockies quite a few times and each time is an experience I'll never forget. I have a dear friend named Liz Wiltzen living in Banff who is also a painter and each time I visit to paint we venture to these great spots just minutes from her home. The painting above is one such spot just on the edge of town at a place called Vermillion lakes. This was at around sunset, soft colors and gorgeous reflections stopped me in my tracks.

Thanks to all of you have visited my Ebay auctions. It has been a success and I will continue to post new pieces. "Rocky Shore" oil on linen, 6"x6" was painted on the shore in Palos Verdes, CA. This particular beach is covered in rocks and I love to paint rocks. It was an overcast day which brought out beautiful tones in the rocks and created a fabulous mood to the overall painting. Check out this painting on Ebay.

Urban landscapes lately have been some of my favorite to do. "7am Montrose" is a piece I did a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning. Sometimes these landscapes are easier to complete on a quiet day. I love the abstract design in this particular piece which works well on a square format. This piece is available through my studio for $1400 framed. I can be reached at 310-869-3200.

Things are getting busier now, I'm trying to finish paintings for my show coming this November, and Weekend with the Masters workshops coming up next month, should be a fun time. I've decided to update my website with a slightly updated home page and new links, should be up soon. I'm adding "little Jewels" a page link showing some smaller field studies, some for sale and some not. I have a large inventory of smaller paintings I have kept through the years that not many have seen, so I decided to show them. Above is one such piece, "Sunlit Falls" 6"x8".

My Ebay auction has been launched. Called, "A Painting a Week", this is a new series of miniatures no more than 6"x6" that I have decided to put up for sale auction style. This gives the new collector a foot in the door into collecting at a great starting price. It is also a chance for new and existing collectors to bid on some really special pieces not normally sold outside of my studio.

My first in series is, "Creekside Colors", oil on panel, 6"x6". Click here

Hi Everyone,

I'm finally going to start blogging again. I started my blog last year then I got sidetracked. Well, Im having a show coming up in November at Maureen Murphy Fine Arts in Montecito, CA. It's where Oprah has her 50 million dollar palace. Hey, maybe she'll come to the show. The painting above is one for the show, one of 20 I'm getting ready.
