I love painting near the coast and sometimes I
will find that subject that isn't a seascape.  Here
I found an old rowboat beached by low tide in
Newport Beach,  CA.   This literally was right
under my nose as I was walking over a small
bridge that is seen through the reflection in the
painting.

New

It has been a while since my last post,  I've been
wrapping up my workshop schedule and can't wait
to get out and paint.  The light is starting to
change and the weather is cooling off,  perfect
for painting "En Plein Aire!"

For those of you
asking about workshops please check back,  I
will be posting new stuff in late December or
early January!

"Eroding Cliffs" Sold
Summer is here and well,  why not paint the beach!
This scene was painted in  Laguna Beach.  One of my
favorite spots for it's beautiful cliffs and azure blue
waters.  This scene is steps from downtown so you
really don't have to hike around too far to be able to
paint such breath taking views.

Its been a while since I posted an urban scene so here
it is.  "Montrose Alley"  literally painted steps from my
studio.  I was on my way for coffee when I came across
this great atmospheric scene and so without question
I ran to the studio got my supplies and headed
back to paint.

Yes, it's urban!

SOLD
Ok,  I know this is not an urban scene,  but
it's right in the the middle of what is urban
near my home.  Amazingly,  many people don't
even know this place is down the street until
they see one of my paintings and ask where
I painted it.  John Singer Sargent painted
lots of what was around him including subjects
like this.  I was definitely influenced by him.

"Carpinteria Bluffs" Oil on linen,  7"x9"
SOLD

I love painting the Coast where I live.  California
has some of the most beautiful coastline anywhere in the
World.   From it's white sand beaches in the south to the
rocky cliffs of the north there is endless subject matter
for the Plein Air painter.
