This is a painting available at my show at Maureen Murphy Fine Arts. I painted this while on an outing with friends in the hills above Santa Barbara. It is looking towards the ocean on a beautiful afternoon.
Native grasses gone dormant, the fringes of coastal scrub gilded by the blinding light of a sun not surrendering easily to the Pacific and the inevitable night.
What a glorious composition of warms and cools, lights and darks, the near and the far.

Beautiful, love the burned out light on the distant hillside.
Yep, that spot of color really sings, nice one. Checked the MMFA site, and I love the Big Sur stuff!
